A Cameroon wood drum table with pierced and carved lattice base. The size and height is great to use as a stool, side table, or occasional table. The lattice work on the stool is in good condition, however, due to the inherent nature of solid wood there are always slight imperfections.
Amazingly carved from one solid piece of wood. This is a spectacular design pattern with history and tradition and quite useful as a functional art piece for todays use.
Throughout Africa the stool is considered a very personal & important piece of furniture, which serves as a symbol of its owner's rank. The Bamileke people of the Cameroon are known for their skill as wood carvers & for their distinctive round stools carved from a single piece of wood. The support section of the stool is intricately carved in a sytlized open pattern motif.
