Old trade beads such as these originated in Venice, Italy where they were produced and sent to Africa for trade purposes. Each bead was crafted by an artisan by applying the molten white glass dots to the black base of the bead.
The wound beads with lamp worked white spots, and some pink/blue spots were made in the mid 1800's.
Measures 14" from top-to-bottom (28" or 71cm).
Some call them Crows eye beads.
