The Agonli live between the Yoruba and the Fon people. This rare female figure was used to
solve female disputes. It adopts the Yoruba Shango handle
and loop though the figure and face is clearly not Yoruba.
According to Leonard Kahan, "the piece is from the 19th
century, has a rich patina and is a gorgeous sculpture".
