These pestles, of very hard wood, were used to grind grain and other foods in large mortars. The patina on the wood shows years of use. These every day utilitarian objects were both functional and aesthetically beautiful in shape and form.
We have several of these available, and have some in our kitchen area too, as a reminder for how easy we have it now!
