From the African Heritage Trust Collection, the necklace probably dates back to at least the 1940's.
This genuine old Zulu necklace made from thousands of glass beads is very unusual in that the long strings of beads have been pinched together at various points by safety pins.
Isijolane means gentleman in Zulu, so it was probably worn by a Zulu man to show his rank.
Mounted with a blue background so the colors of the beaded necklace really pop.
It measures Height: 34 1/4" x Width: 11" x Depth: 2"
