We collected these mortars in Dogon country in the mid '90's, and are only making these available now.
This mortar is carved from hardwood. The food or substance to be ground is placed in the mortar and is pounded with a pestle.
This shows age and much use, so probably prepared many meals!
Height: 23 1/4" x upper diameter: 14 1/4" and lower diameter: 11 ½"
The inside depth is 12".
