Originally made in Venice in Italy approximately 100-300 years ago, these famous glass beads were transported by Europeans to many countries in Africa to trade for skins, spices, gold, diamonds, etc. Africans then traded them amongst themselves, using beads as a form of currency. Our African trade beads are priced per strand. Prices vary depending on the rarity of the beads in a particular strand.
