Konyak, a sub group of the Naga people, inscribed bone hair ornaments - A flat piece of beautifully etched bone, probably from the mithun, an ox-like animal indigenous to the Naga Hills, worn as a hair ornament to tie up the long hair worn by some of the Naga tribal warriors - early 1900's. Would make an excellent central pendant for a necklace.
Although Konyak warriors more frequently used carved wood for this purpose, tribal men would have worn this piece to display status and identity.
