A wooden fish net needle like this one is similar in shape and function to ones used in numerous cultures around the world to make fishing nets.
This is a flat type with a "tongue" to hold the twine or thread.
Originally collected in the Congo in the late 1940's - early 1950's by Ronald Suetens who worked for Sabena Airlines which was the flagship airline of Belgium.
