$2,500.00
Acquired in the mid 1960’s - early 1970’s by Stanley Ambrozek, former U.N. Transport Advisor to Cameroon.

This statue is attributed to the Chamba, even though the arms are not joined at the shoulders in the typical and unique way. The wide hands are separated from the body, while a base cuts through the thighs with the feet appearing below, which is recognizably Chamba. The simply carved facial features may relate to their function as intermediaries between the spirit and human realms. Despite lack of facial detail, figures can still give an impression of power. The double-figure sculptures are said to be a married couple, and they were found among the apparatus of several different ritual associations.
