This elegant boat shaped anklet is distinguished
by its bird appendage. It was worn by women on top of the foot as it
was believed to protect them. Anklets such as this also served as a
form of currency. The name Lobi originates from two Lobiri words
lou (meaning forest) and bi (meaning children), literally “Children
of the forest”.
