Commonly referred to as rings, they are in fact
pendants. They tied onto a band and were worn
by women around the waist during dance performances. They are said to symbolize fertility.
They represent breasts and also the pointy
thatched roofs of the Dogon granaries.
They are usually double, which makes this one most unusual.
