This rare loop axe (sometimes referred to as a ring axe) is from the Benue River area in north eastern Nigeria, and was collected in 1962 by Paul Koprowski who was there at the time. The cultural origin is uncertain, but is possibly from the Hausa, Fulbe or Jukun people.
