Approximately 90 objects in this major international loan exhibition from public and private collections in Europe, the U.S., and Africa demonstrate that art in Africa intersects most aspects of the life cycle with remarkable consistency. The works of art reflect a variety of beliefs and activities. Included are a 16th-century ivory salt cellar, a 17th-century Ifa divination board, an 18th-century commemorative dynastic statue, and a 20th-century wooden bowl.
