The Tuareg are a nomadic tribe from the Sub-Saharan (Sahara) Countries of Niger, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Mali, Libya, and Morocco. The Tuareg artisans are renowned for their unique and exquisite utilitarian artworks as well as pieces in silver and leather work. Tuareg artisans have preserved the symbolism and cosmology from the past through their jewelry and other artifacts. The geometric patterns and designs have a modern and universal appeal that transcend the sands of time. This utilitarian pulley would have been used in the construction of the Tuareg's famed nomadic camps and tents, as well as the harnessing of water from precious Saharan wells.

A custom-made metal stand is included.
