Wild olivewood is a rich, warm wood
native to Kenya, Ethiopia, Mozambique, South Africa,
Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Heavy
and dense, wild olivewood carves into beautiful and
durable service pieces. Our olivewood items come
from Kenya, where the woodcarving trade employs
about 80,000 kenyans. By upholding the value of
Africa’s beautiful hardwoods, we all do our part to
prevent the exploitation of natural resources. Our
beautifully carved olivewood bowls such as this one,
make for wonderful serving platters, or a simple
accent piece on any shelf or coffee table.
With an occasional application of mineral oil, wild
olive wood lasts for years, growing more beautiful with age.
