known for their incredible masks and sculptures.
Sculptures are important in their everyday life.
Both their making & purpose have symbolic mean-
ing. Sculptures are kept in houses, sanctuaries or
by the Hogon (spiritual leader).
Gesture is one of the most
enigmatic features of Dogon
sculpture, which depicts figures
with raised arms, arms crossed
over torso, hands covering eyes,
and a variety of other postures.
