These are very rare and unusual old trade beads which were made in Venice, Italy where they were produced and sent to Africa for trade purposes. Each wound bead was crafted by an artisan by applying the swirl design to the bead back in the 1800's.
Each bead has about a 5/8" diameter (16mm)
