'Izinkhezo' Spoons and Beaded Pouch - Zulu, South Africa (JL43)

$750.00
Zulu spoons were carved & used with great care. When not being used, the spoons were stored in special woven grass pouches called impontshi. Spoons left standing in food or sticking out of pots were believed to result in indigestion (the food would stick to the stomach). The stems of the spoons have personalized & beautiful relief carvings.

A most delicate weaving, and your personal spoon bag would have its own distinctive design.
